HSV Dating Sites - Can You Actually Find a Match

After I was diagnosed with HSV-2 in November of 2016, I spent a lot of time trying to find a couple of decent HSV dating sites where I could meet women in the same situation. I took my diagnosis hard, but eventually realized that I could actually forget about it to a large extent if I was dating someone with whom I didn't have to have 'the talk' or worry about infecting.

Shockingly Inept

I was a little bit taken aback after searching a few HSV dating sites that had seemed to be all but abandoned. For example, one site I visited was called 'Positive Love'. It looked good from the outset, but then I did a search for profiles within my city.

Now, I live in Vancouver, BC, which is a decent-sized city (well, the third biggest in Canada, anyway). I made my search pretty broad by including women from the ages of 28-39. I included no other search criteria.

The result? (Gulp) Zero profiles returned. For the heck of it, I expanded this search to include all of Canada. The result (in a country of 30 million people)?

90 profiles returned!

I then signed up to another of the handful of HSV dating sites online. This one was called 'STD Friends'. This one also looked quite professional, but contained a bad omen: the std news reports featured on the first page were all dated back to 2006. I plugged ahead anyway and did the same search for my city, women aged 28-39.

The results? 0 profiles returned within Vancouver, and only 14 profiles returned across all of Canada!

Luckily, it didn't get worse after this. In fact, it got a lot better.

I stumbled upon a site called Positive Singles. I discovered the 'Positive Singles' name while lurking around a forum thread that was about HSV dating sites. I went in and created a free profile  and did my same 'search test'.

This time, my search for women aged 28-39 returned a whopping 322 profiles - and that was just within 100 miles of my apartment!

I'm now an active, chatty member - and highly recommend this site.

Single With HSV Dating and Online Dating

Honesty and openness with potential partners is of the utmost importance when you are single with HSV. This was important to you before you contracted HSV, why wouldn't it be now? Let's face it-it's difficult to tell someone that you suffer from genital HSV. Now with online dating, we are meeting people who are almost perfect strangers much more frequently. Having to tell a stranger that you have HSV is not exactly how most people want to begin their first date. But now, there are sites out there that understand the problems single herpes sufferers face and are hooking up successful, happy couples through HSV dating

Approximately 50 million Americans have genital herpes. That's about twenty-five percent of the population! Herpes Simplex Virus or HSV is twice as common among people between 20 and 29 years old than it was twenty years ago. Studies show that as much as 80 percent of the HSV population is unaware that they have the virus. Although there is still no cure, scientists are working on topical solutions and vaccines that can help combat the spread of HSV. With treatment HSV can be managed and not transferred to your partner.

For singles with HSV dating is complicated. Many suffers that are single find that dating with HSV is a headache. Having HSV isn't easy. Neither is online dating. But now, online dating for people with HSV is easier than ever before. There are dating services and websites that specialize in HSV dating which help sufferers find partners who are also single with HSV. Single HSV sufferers are going online in greater numbers than ever before to HSV dating sites that offer privacy and protection without later guilt or embarrassment of explaining HSV to a love interest. Online dating for people with HSV just got less complicated.

HSV Dating Sites - Meet Singles With Herpes

Genital Herpes (HSV-2)

Nationwide in the United States about sixteen percent, or one in six people from 14 to 49 years old have a genital (HSV-2) infection. Luckily for the last ten years or so genital herpes cases have stabilized as people become aware about how widespread it is.

I am infected with HSV-1 and HSV-2. I have had cold sores my whole life. 90% of the population has them and they are widely accepted. Genital HSV, which is basically the same as a cold sore, is just the opposite. There is a stigma that surrounds this disease is just wrong. Some dates, will run like you have the plague when you tell them you have genital herpes.

Before this, I was happily single but dating a woman for a couple of months when I became infected. The woman who I believe I got it from said she tested negative for the disease, however I never saw any test results. She also asked me to not wear a condom and said I had nothing to worry about.

Three days later after having unprotected sex with her I had my first outbreak. It started with massive unbearable back pain. I was at work and had to leave early because the pain was so bad. It is when I got home and was going to the bathroom that I noticed I had a huge blister on my penis. I was in shock and disbelief and almost became immobile as my brain and thoughts raced away. It was like a piece of my innocence was taken away from me, I felt that depressed.

I have since dated women from an STD dating site and a couple of those women admitted giving genital herpes to their boyfriends, then denied they had genital HSV after their boyfriends became infected. They did both admit that they would never do it again and that is the reason they only STD date now.

As much as I would love not to have to tell a woman I have genital herpes, I just need to tell them. I just can't lie about something like this, even though it is in my eyes, not a big deal. If you start out dating a person and lie about something like this, then shame on you I say.

Now comes the hard part or easy part, hopefully. Where do you find singles in your area that are looking for a relationship that share your sexually transmitted disease?

First I would do a search on Yahoo, Google and Bing and search for keywords like "STD singles social groups" or "HSV singles organizations". I found an STD social group near me on Yahoo and get their news emails about gatherings where I live. Truthfully though, I have never been to one of these STD gatherings because although I am outgoing, I would be extremely shy at one of these events.

I have genital HSV and know what you are going through. a HSV Dating Site has helped me find quality dates with women who share my medical condition.

Sometimes when you are diagnosed with something like this it is good to have hope and faith that you are still the same person and are still capable of have a wonderful relationship.
